Moody’s Mega Math (M3) Challenge

The M3 Challenge is open to high school juniors and seniors between the ages of 16 and 18 who reside in the following states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Students will be challenged to solve an open – ended, realistic, applied math – modeling problem focused on a real – world issue. The challenge is entirely internet – based. Students choose which day they wish to work on challenge weekend (March 3rd or 4th, 2012). This scholarship allows schools to enter up to two teams and offers a $20,000 scholarship to each winning team. Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program is available to American students who wish to study abroad in Germany. Recipients of this $10,000 award will gain real world views of current affairs as well as German social, political, and economic life, all while living with a host family and attending school for an academic year. You must be a high school student between the ages of 15 and 18, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a resident of Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Kansas, or Southern California (south of Monterey County) to be eligible for this award. Young Naturalist Award

If you are a science nerd and think that there aren’t many scholarships available, then you really need to check out the young naturalist award. The Young Naturalist Award is available to students in grades seven through twelve who are currently enrolled in a public, parochial, or home school. You must plan and conduct your own scientific expedition, one which will provide original data, questions, and observations on a topic in the natural sciences. An essay is required to be considered for this award. The recipients of this scholarship are awarded $2,500.

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest

If you have knowledge on the constitution and want to explain and tell about your thoughts on the duties and obligations of our government and citizens, then the American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest is the perfect scholarship opportunity for you. The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. You must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship on top of the $18,000 awarded.
